One of Canada’s leading sociologists, Raymond Currie is a Dean Emeritus of the University of Manitoba (U of M). He served as Department Head (1979-1984) and Dean of Arts (1991-1999) at the U of M, and as Executive Director of the Canadian Research Data Centre Network (2002-2010). Dr. Currie has lectured on academic leadership across Canada and been widely recognized for his research, publications, and contributions to both university governance and public policy. He is the recipient of many awards including an Honorary Doctor of Laws from McMaster University (2012) and the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. Dr. Currie’s autobiography, Secure and Uncertain: A Father’s Story, was published in 2008.
