I am slowly findng my way around.  I moved here to be close to my brother and SIL for support. I don't know anyone else here.  My mom is in a nursing home here and hopefully my sister will get tranfered here as well so we will all have support.  I am getting used to apartment life but it's taking time and to recognize that maintaining a home was getting to be impossible for me.

It's good you have family around. And if you are up to it and want to visit your Mom she is nearby.

Maintaining a home was too much for me as well so I understand that feeling. Adjusting takes time. Moving while having illness is a lot. Have you been able to get a doctor and other medical supports you need?

I am slowly adapting to apartment life.  It's a big change from living in a house but a change that had to be made.  It was hard to face the fact that my body is just not able to climb the ladders and fix the fence and mow the lawn like it used to be. My brother and SIL live here as well as their kids and the grandkids.  My mom was moved to a nursing home here and my sister will be coming soon so our family will be together.

sorry double reply.  I have been to the cancer clinic here and am in the system.  I am starting a new therapy so getting the ct scans and the heart scans to set a bench mark as to where we are. I don't have a family dr as yet, still getting around to changing the address on everything!!

Lulu975,

Multiple posts and replies are the norm here Laughing  When you feel like writing, don't hesitate to do so here. Especially if you would like some support or encouragement or anything, even just to know someone is on this journey with you here at VH.

I had a nice post about a walk through a wee forest here but internet cut out and it's been lost. Anyway, main thought today is I hope your week has begun peacefully. Sending good thoughts your way.

thank you Carlyn, there are some days when I forget that I have a terminal disease and those days are wonderful, even for a brief time to just be "normal" again is a blessing.  The other days where my mind is off thinking scary thoughts or I am filled with envy watching other people do ordinary things and wishing I could trade places with them.  I keep hearing that it will get easier but I live my life between the scans and I wonder if all the effort is worth it. I think I am finally out of the denial stage and now into grief and anxiety and sadness. I sometimes wish that there was  more interaction and people on this site to talk to.

Hi
I was just looking at your 'picture' Lulu975 and my vision is not as good as it used to be - are those your two cats?  What are their names?

I hope you find that being able to put pen to paper (or finger to key) and expressing how you feel helps. A few months ago a good friend reminded me that grief doesn't follow a straight line - I wonder if you find that too in terms of illness... I wonder if you have seen the article Finding Meaning and Purpose during a Health Crisis

Take care
Katherine

Yes those are my 2 siamese cats, Maeve and Adella.  They have been live savers with their support for me.  They give me a reason to go on.

Hi Lulu975 and Katherine,

Just checking in to say hello. Lulu975, i'm glad Katherine noticed your kitties. The names you gave them are beautiful.

Without pressing, I wanted to check in and say i'm thinking of you. I wondered if you were able to visit with your family? or made any new aquaintances?

Thinking of you

Carlyn

Hello, I do visit with family here, my mom is in a nursing home so I go and see her but mostly stay at home.  I have Fibromyalgia and the fatigue and pain make is very difficult to go out as I have very limited energy each day. I spend the majority of time at home and online as I can rest when I need it.
