Life of downhills...

I’m a bit relieved that I have found you...I have got some doubts and require clarification from you professionals. He met with a terrible accident years back and due to lack of proper rest and treatment he developed a blood clot in his intestine. He vomits blood and has frequent nose bleeding. When taken to hospital the doctors diagnosed him with lung cancer. I’m in a terrible dilemma as to what has to be done. Is it possible to cure the blood clot and at the same time take a cancer treatment? My husband is now bedridden and I work in a store, the only source of livelihood. I work for extra hours to earn for my hubby’s treatment. He seems completely down both mentally and physically which makes my fear and stress more pronounced. I’m thinking of finding an in home palliative caregiver to take care of my husband and his needs, so that I can earn more for this medical expenses. I solicit your valuable comments to help me move further and get him cured.

Dear Susanne,

Welcome. This forum is a good place for relief, and supports, as you navigate this time.

I'm not a professional nor am I doctor so can't think of how to respond. It would be a good idea to consult his medical team, all together or just his main doctor. They could answer your most pressing questions about his health. Also ask them about in home care for him... that seems very important just now.

Do you have additional supports for you during this time? It seems you are carrying most of the load and that is very stressful I know. We're here for you.

This is a good place to talk for emotional support so please don't hesitate.

Carlyn

I welcome you too Suzanne. This must be a very uncertain time for both of you - and of course other family and close friends.  Carlyn is a wise woman with lots of experience in navigating the health care system. Good suggestions as always.

You could also send a message to the AsK A Professional section on this site - normally I could send a link on this reply but I am out of the country and using an iPad And don't have that skill mastered. I am sorry that's also the reason we did not get back to you sooner.

i am just wondering where you call home? Do you have access to home care wher you live? in Canada I know supports available can vary from province to province.

Hope me to hear from you soon.

Katherine
