That's a tough one, Shanni. My dad had issues, as did my mom. I cared for them, both. They didn't have addictions, but this must complicate things.
There is no question that disease changes someone. My mom was the most generous, social butterfly, volunteer, and simply coccooned when cancerous cells began to grow.
Can you tell us more?
What are her symptoms?
What bothers you the most.

Dear Shanni,

welcome to the forum
i see that Jenn has already replied to you - she’s amazing and a wealth of knowledge about caregiving

I don’t think we have all the answers for you but we are here for you.
being a caregiver is one of the hardest things anyone can do for a loved one.  I hope you will send us notes and let us know what’s changing, how you are doing and how things are with your mom

do you live near your mom? Do you visit her daily? Do you have support from home care?

tell us what you wish to share, and we will do our best to respond.
honestly the important thing is that you are there and your mom needs you...
thats something you will never regret  - helping and comforting

tell us your struggles and we will try to support.  That’s what this message board is about - support and encouragement

thank you for joining Virtual Hospice
wishing you a good evening
NatR 🤗
