This is in response to Katherine's post on "Keep Me In Your Heart", sung by Warren Zevon.  I had never hear of it until I followed your link to you tube.  What a beautiful, lyrical plea for remembrance.

Thank you, Katherine.

Hi
Here I am - a voice from the past. How truly lovely to read all your names and be reminded of past 'conversations'.  Believe me when I tell you I smiled thinking about you all.

I am back on the forum for a time.

A new member CDP started the thread Today is mom's birthday... I am not sure who is still active on the forum but if you are and are able could I ask you to consider responding to her post? As always this is invitation not expecation.

I send you all warm virtual hugs in this time of social distancing.
Katherine (KathCull)

Hi everyone,

Unfortunatelly, I will not be sharing any nice tunes with you today but the topic reminded of the time when I've traveled to Turkey 3 years ago and found a very interesting museum displaying the real healing power of music.

The place is called The Museum of the History of Psychiatry and placed in Turkey, Edirne. It was founded in medieval times and displays the usage of music and sound of water as a practice in psychological disorders back in Ottoman times. The place is designed in accordance with the original of the building and you get relaxed as you walk into the cool environment of the old hospital listening the calming water sounds and sufi music.

With time I've developed an interest in meditation and sufi music. Decided to get a Montenegrin citezenship, buy small house and move to a small city and live a calmer life. And of course, I've put music in the center of my life.

Hi Roylenard,
How interesting. I have found that the Covid19 appearance has changed my life in terms of enjoying more time not being busy - if you know what I mean. It forced me to take stock of what I am doing, why and if I wanted to continue in the same pattern. Some good things came out of that stock taking:)

Was there an event in your life that led to your choices or did you find that over time it was just a natural progression towards,  as you call it, a calmer life?

Katherine

I wanted to let you know that because of Discussion Guidelines I needed to remove the link above.

I have a new "FavouriteSong"!!!  It is perfect for the healing of one's soul with the beauty of music.  It is "Perhaps Love" by John Denver and Placido Domingo.  See Youtube.

I would love to be able to sing it to the residents and families of our hospice, but I cannot.  For the last 3 months, we volunteers have not been able to perform our shifts due to the pandemic.

I am more than sad because I had been volunteering there for 10 years.  After my family, it has been the most wonderful thing in my life.  I dearly miss the people and comforting the people.

Have you ever heard the expression, "The definition of a coincidence:  It's only God's way of remaining anonymous."  This is the first time in many, many years that I have gotten an email from Virtual Hospice.  And it comes at a time of sadness and separation.  What (is a) coincidence.

I use to help with posts to Virtual Hospice in the early years, (and I have lost several family members in the meantime) but then I moved on to hospice volunteer work.  I wonder if this "coincidental" email I got is a serendipitous voice from the past, calling me back?

What a beautiful discussion post to read. Music is so precious and such a moving way to connect

with others. I’m reminded of the videos coming out of Italy in the early days of the pandemic of folks

on their balconies singing. We have used the power of melody to bridge connection when words

alone just do not suffice.

One of my treasured grief songs is “song for a winter night”, originally written by Gordon Lightfoot

but covered by the Good Lovelies. The harmonizing of their voices coupled with the gentle melody

and lyrics touches a sacred place in my heart.

“If I could only have you near

To breathe a sigh or two

I would be happy just to hold the hands I love

And to be once again with you

To be once again with you”

AND THE HITS KEEP COMIN'

Prayer of St Francis by Sarah McLachlan (I love her voice)  She brings me peace and calm.

Whether one is religious or not, the sentiments expressed are universal to GoodHartedPeople everywhere.

Hey, all:  Don't forget virtualhospice is a wonderful gathering place for those who have a story (and we all have a story) and those who have a heart to listen.  We're here for you - any time.

Thank you Girlwiththeblackberet for starting this lovely thread. Music speaks such a universal language. And another song has been playing in my mind recently Sanctuary  by Carrie Newcomer.

CVH is hosting a Gathering of loss, healing and hope and featuring 2 of her songs In this song one of the lines is 'twig of rosemary' stuck out for me. What does that mean I wondered....  and discovered it is the universal symbol of remembrance. How beautiful.

Here is the link to the Gathering tomorrow evening at 8 pm EST.  All are warmly welcomed.

Hi Katherine,

Remember your Shakespeare: " Rosemary, that's for remembrance."

Still lurking!
