Elaine C. Meyer, PhD, RN is the Co-Founder and Director of the Institute for Professionalism and Ethical Practice at Boston Children's Hospital and Associate Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School. With over twenty years experience in neonatal and pediatric critical care, Dr. Meyer's clinical and research interests include the perspectives and priorities of patients and their families, difficult healthcare conversations, models of psychosocial care, end of life care in the critical care setting, and humanism in health care. She has been instrumental in developing and teaching the innovative interprofessional simulation-based Program to Enhance Relational and Communication Skills (PERCS) workshops. She delivered a widely acclaimed TED Talk entitled, On Being Present, Not Perfect that has been widely incorporated into medical and nursing school curricula. She is an Associate Editor at Simulation in Healthcare and serves in leadership capacities at the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. She is the author of nearly 100 peer-reviewed articles and presents widely nationally and internationally.
