Quote: A World-Wide Deficit of Compliments

I try to live by the motto:  “Never miss an opportunity to give a sincere compliment.”  I think there is a world-wide deficit of compliments and hugs and it’s a challenge that I take on with glee.

When I gave my “talk” about hospice at church on Sunday, I had the opportunity to meet a sweet lady who (I’m guessing) was in her 70s.  She had a pretty little face with a “pixie –like” hairdo.  I told her how pretty she was.  She smiled, and I know that she was pleased.

I realize that there are a lot of people who could point out that I risked the danger of my comment coming across as sexist, condescending, insincere, patronizing, too forward, inappropriate, or in just poor taste or worse.

But the observation, wrapped in loving-kindness, came from my heart, and my intuition tells me that it went straight to hers.  Long Live Love.  ~ eKim

Dear eKim,

I think that you are right on the money. Another thing that I do in Church as a male, is hug the widows that I sense would appreciate it. Countless ones have given me positive feedback saying that they so long for those hugs that they no longer receive from anybody. Keep it up.
